The objective of this work was evaluate the effect of gradative substitution of corn silage (0, 20, 40 and 60%, of dry matter) by pineapple by-products silage on average daily gain, feed intake and feed conversion, carcass yield, fat thickness and loin eye area of bulls, finished in feedlot. Twenty eight bulls were used with approximately 20 months and initial body weight of 328 kg. The animals were divided in a completely randomized design, with four treatments (levels of pineapple […]

The objective of this study was evaluate the intake, milk production and composition, nutrients digestibility and feed efficiency of crossbred cows of low potential of production fed diets based on sugar cane. It was used eight cows crossbred Holstein/Gir, with medium live weight of 425 kg, after the initial third of lactation. They were distributed in two Latin squares (4×4), in agreement with the lactation order, feeding with complete diets to the sugarcane base, being, cane more urea (CAU); cane, […]

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of ingestion rations with different phosphorus levels, by goats in growth, on metabolism and endogenous losses of phosphorus. Eighteen Saanen animals, males, castrated, from 4 to 5 months of age, body weight average of 25 ± 1.2 kg, were housed, for 45 days, in metabolism cages. The animals received rations with three levels of P (0.08, 0.15 and 0.38% in dry matter) and similar levels of crude protein, metabolizable energy […]

This trial was run at Estación Experiment Agropecuária of INTA (EEA-INTA, Rafaela), Argentina. Thirty-two high producing Hostein-Argentina dairy cows were used in early lactation, aiming to evaluate blood parameters at two levels of protected fat (0 and 400 g/cow/day) and two types of alfalfa (fresh or haylage). All cows were submitted to a pre-trial period of fifteen day in two groups: with and without fat supplementation. The animals, post-partum, were allocated to paddocks with green or pre-dried alfalfa, comprising, then, […]

This work was carried-out to study the effect of substitution levels of corn (COR) by cassava by-product flour (CPF) (25, 50, 75 and 100%) in the ration for sheep on voluntary intake, nutrients apparent digestibility and nitrogen (NB) and energy (EB) balance, pH and ammonia concentration (N-NH3) in ruminal liquid. Four male, castrated sheep, without defined race, with medium weight of 41.4 AW, in trial of digestibility were used, using the method of total collect feces and urine. The animals […]

The effect of four levels (0; 33; 66 and 100%) of substitution of sorghum grain (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) by oats grain (Avena strigosa) in the concentrate of diets for feedlot finishing steers, was studied. Steers (19 months old and initial weight of 381 kg) were fed a diet containing 60% roughage and 40% concentrate, formulated for ADG of 1.2 kg/animal. During the adaptation period of seven days and in the first half of the experimental period (35 days) the […]

This work was carried out to study the effect of protein and mineral salt supplements in comparison to mineral salt on performance of growing and finishing steers, and to evaluate the availability, chemical composition and in vitro digestibility of forage during the winter. Seventy four steers were used, 37 with 266 kg of initial body weight and 37 with 377 kg of initial body weight. At the onset of the fall grass production period in May both animal groups (growing […]

This work was carried out with the purpose to evaluate the minerals retention during the pregnancy of goats with one or two foetus. The estimate of retention was based in the difference between the total of each mineral stored in the foetus, uterus, membranes, fetals fluids and mammary gland of animals in the differents stages of pregnancy and the total of each mineral stored in the empty goats, using the model of prediction: ln Y = A – B e […]

The objective was to evaluate the equations system for determination of the TDN of six forages (corn silage, sugar cane with 1% urea, coastcross grass hay 1, coastcross grass hay 2, tifton grass haylage and elephant grass) and 12 concentrate feeds (corn grain ground, sorghum grain ground, corn germ, wheat bran, rice bran, babaçu meal, soybean meal, cotton meal, cotton seed, corn gluten, corn gluten meal and soybean hull) were determined using sheep as experimental animals. Forages and concentrates feed […]

This work was carried out to evaluate the recombinant bovine somatotropin effect (rBST – BST analogous, commercially obtained by recombinant DNA technique) on average daily gain (ADG), dry matter intake (DMI), organic matter intake (OMI), metabolizable energy intake (MEI) and neutral detergent fiber intake (NDFI), dry matter intake relative to live weight (DMI/LW), feed:gain ratio (F/G), carcass dressing percentage (CDP), dry matter apparent digestibility (DMAD), organic matter apparent digestibility (OMAD), crude protein apparent digestibility (CPAD), crude energy apparent digestibility (CEAD) […]
