The Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (RBZ) is a publication dedicated to the broad field of Animal Science. We publish high-quality, original scientific research that spans across diverse areas within the discipline. The scope of RBZ encompasses a wide range of topics, including aquaculture, biometeorology and animal welfare, forage crops and grasslands, animal and forage plants breeding and genetics, animal reproduction, ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, meat science and muscle biology, precision livestock, and animal production systems and agribusiness.

Two experiments were carried out with twenty-four male weaned Holstein calves to verify the influence of different dietary cation-anion concentrate and roughage proportions on calves metabolism. In the first experiment, calves were fed rations with -100, +200 and +400 mEq cation-anion balance/kg of dry matter, containing 60% of roughage and 40% of concentrate. In the second experiment, calves (117.6±20.8 kg average weight) received rations with similar dietary cation-anion balance but in diets of 40% roughage and 60% concentrate. As the […]
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of sodium levels in the diet for the growing phase on the performance of Japanese quails during the the growth and production phases. It was used 480 quails at 1 day of age distributed in a completely randomized design with six diets containing 0.07; 0.12; 0.17; 0.22; 0.27 and 0.32% of sodium, evaluated with eight repetitions of ten birds per experimental unit. In the phase from 1 to 21 days […]
Semen samples of five specimens of Prochilodus lineatus (Valencienes, 1847) were used to test the toxic and cryoprotectants effects of six solutions based on BTS (Beltsville Thawing Solution®) 4.5%: A – BTS 4.5% + Methanol 10%; B – BTS 4.5% + DMSO 10%; C – BTS 4.5% + KCl 0.072% + Methanol 10%; D – BTS 4.5% + KCl 0.072% + DMSO 10%; E – BTS 4.5% + KI 0.036% + Methanol 10% and F – BTS 4.5% + KI […]
