The Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (RBZ) is a publication dedicated to the broad field of Animal Science. We publish high-quality, original scientific research that spans across diverse areas within the discipline. The scope of RBZ encompasses a wide range of topics, including aquaculture, biometeorology and animal welfare, forage crops and grasslands, animal and forage plants breeding and genetics, animal reproduction, ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, meat science and muscle biology, precision livestock, and animal production systems and agribusiness.

Data on 23,251 Nelore calves weaned from 1994 to 1997, belonging to Agropecuária Jacarezinho Ltda., were analyzed to estimate the influence of environmental effects of age of dam, julian date of birth and age of calf at weaning on visual scores of conformation (C), precocity (P) and musculature (M). All effects significantly influenced the visual scores. The analyses showed that the calves with the best scores of C, P and M at weaning were those from dams with 7, 8 […]

The objective of this work was to study the effects of age of dam (AOD), age of calf (AOC) and Julian date of birth (DOB) on the average daily gain (ADG) from birth to weaning period of Nellore breed animals. The data were analyzed by restricted maximum likelihood, using the animal model. The model included the direct effects of contemporary group (CG), AOD, AOC and DOB, and the direct effects (animal), maternal, permanent environmental and residue. The covariates were defined […]
