The Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (RBZ) is a publication dedicated to the broad field of Animal Science. We publish high-quality, original scientific research that spans across diverse areas within the discipline. The scope of RBZ encompasses a wide range of topics, including aquaculture, biometeorology and animal welfare, forage crops and grasslands, animal and forage plants breeding and genetics, animal reproduction, ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, meat science and muscle biology, precision livestock, and animal production systems and agribusiness.

This study aimed to evaluate the sexual behavior of 88 bulls of the Angus and Zebu (Gyr, Guzerat and Nellore) breeds managed for collection and processing of semen at an artificial insemination center. On average, bulls were at 5 years of age, 906 kg of live weight and 41 cm for scrotal circumference. Reaction time in all breeds was positively influenced by the “moving” stimuli teaser. Reaction time in Angus bulls was smaller than in bulls of the zebu breeds […]

The objective of this study was to estimate heritabilities, genetic correlations, genetic trends and rank correlations of the bulls, for weights at 8, 12, 18 and 24 months of age, in the Guzerat herd from UNESP Campus, Ilha Solteira, SP. The heritabilities and the breeding values were estimated by animal model, using the MTDFREML computational program. The genetic correlations (Pearson) and the rank correlations (Spearman) were obtained by SAS CORR procedure, using the animal breeding values, while the genetic trends […]
