We’ve updated the Instructions to authors!
Dear authors,
We’ve recently updated the Instructions to authors to meet the SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) criteria and the terms of the Open Science and to ensure excellence in the publication of scientific articles.
The main changes include:
- The peer review process has been altered from double to single blind, meaning that authors’ identities will be revealed to editors and reviewers, but reviewers will remain anonymous to authors. All manuscripts submitted to ScholarOne are now in single-blind review, including those that were already under evaluation. However, the new submission norms will not apply to the last ones.
- A new document must be submitted along with the manuscript: the Open Science Compliance form, in which authors declare their compliance with Open Science principles.
- RBZ is now accepting the evaluation of manuscripts that are on a preprint server.
- Open data: RBZ encourages authors to deposit all underlying data in a data repository and to report this in the “Data availability” section.
- We have included two new publishing areas: “Meat Science and Muscle Biology” and “Precision Livestock”.
- The “Acknowledgments” and “Financial Support” sections may be included in the body of the manuscript at submission.
- In the new section “Declaration of generative AI in scientific writing,” authors may declare if they used artificial intelligence tools in the manuscript writing process.
- Authors may provide the name of the institution where they obtained the approval of an ethics committee for animal use in their study.
- We have included suggestions to enhance scientific rigor, reproducibility, and data transparency.
