The Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (RBZ) is a publication dedicated to the broad field of Animal Science. We publish high-quality, original scientific research that spans across diverse areas within the discipline. The scope of RBZ encompasses a wide range of topics, including aquaculture, biometeorology and animal welfare, forage crops and grasslands, animal and forage plants breeding and genetics, animal reproduction, ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, meat science and muscle biology, precision livestock, and animal production systems and agribusiness.

Effects of Diets with Different Levels of Neutral Detergent Fiber and the Porous Size of Nylon Bags Incubated in the Rumen on Ruminal Fauna in Buffaloes and Cattle
Four buffaloes and four cattle, rumen fistulated, were utilized in two Latin Square (4 x 4) to evaluate the effects of rations with increasing levels of NDF (54, 60, 66 and 72% in DM) and two porous size of the nylon bags (53 and 100 mm) on the population of ciliate protozoa in rumen content and inside the nylon bags suspended in the rumen for several times. There was no difference in the several genus and in the total of […]
Three rumen cannulated buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) and three zebu cattle (Bos indicus) were fed chopped sugar cane ad libitum and 3 kg of concentrate/animal/day during 13 weeks. After two weeks of adaptation, samples of rumen contents were weekly collected at two times: just before feeding and 40 minutes after feeding to measure the concentration and composition of ruminal fauna. Ruminal contents were mixed and re inoculated among animals from the same species after five weeks of trial starting. During the […]
Eight rumen fistulated rams were delineated in two Latin Squares in four periods of 35 days each and four treatments consisted of increasing levels of sugar cane (SC) in substitution to the corn silage (CS): A) 100% CS, B) 67% CS and 33% SC, C) 33% CS and 67% SC and D) 100% SC, to evaluate the population of ciliate protozoa in the rumen. The total concentrations of rumen ciliate protozoa and of Entodinium decreased and the values of pH […]
