The Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (RBZ) is a publication dedicated to the broad field of Animal Science. We publish high-quality, original scientific research that spans across diverse areas within the discipline. The scope of RBZ encompasses a wide range of topics, including aquaculture, biometeorology and animal welfare, forage crops and grasslands, animal and forage plants breeding and genetics, animal reproduction, ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, meat science and muscle biology, precision livestock, and animal production systems and agribusiness.

Fourteen dairy calves, four months of age were allocated in two treatments: control and supplemented with 0,4 ppm of Cr in the basal diet, which had 52% of grass hay and 48% of concentrate (corn meal and extruded soybeans) during 98 days. Feed intake was measured daily. In the last week were performed a glucose tolerance test. Performance were not affected by treatment (liveweight gain 1.330 and 1.320 kg/d; feed efficiency 0.24 and 0.25 and feed conversion, 4.13 and 4.07 […]
The present work was designed to verify the effect of the use of phytase and xylanase upon the performance and bone deposition of minerals in broiler diets containing 15% of rice bran, low available phosphorus and without supplementation of iron, zinc, copper and manganese. The phytase utilized was the Natuphos 5000 and the xylanase Avizyme 1300. The experimental design was the completely randomized and the analysis of variance in a 4×2+1 factorial scheme. The control diet was made up of […]
This work was carried out with the purpose of evaluating the retention and the requirement of Ca e P minerals during the pregnancy of goats with one or two foetus. The estimate of retention was based in the difference between the total of each mineral stored in the foetus, uterus, membranes, fetals fluids and mammary gland of animals in the differents phases of pregnancy and the total of each mineral stored in the empty goats, using the model of prediction […]
This work was carried out with the purpose to evaluate the minerals retention during the pregnancy of goats with one or two foetus. The estimate of retention was based in the difference between the total of each mineral stored in the foetus, uterus, membranes, fetals fluids and mammary gland of animals in the differents stages of pregnancy and the total of each mineral stored in the empty goats, using the model of prediction: ln Y = A – B e […]
Traditional analytical methods of assessing forage nutritional value are time-consuming and expensive. The near infrared reflectance method appears as an alternative that does not utilize chemicals, is not destructive and is extremely fast. However, in order to be used in a routinely basis, calibration curves have to be developed from laboratory results and mathematical equations. The objective of this paper was to develop calibration curves for corn silage, using a total of 246 samples collected in different regions of Rio […]
This work was carried out to estimate the retention and the net requirements of Ca and P, in 120 goats averaging 42 kg LW. The estimate retention based in the difference between the total of each mineral stored in the fetus, the uterus, the membranes, the fetal fluids and the mammary gland of animals in the different phases of pregnancy and the total of each mineral stored in the empty goats. The model of prediction used was lnY = A […]
