The Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (RBZ) is a publication dedicated to the broad field of Animal Science. We publish high-quality, original scientific research that spans across diverse areas within the discipline. The scope of RBZ encompasses a wide range of topics, including aquaculture, biometeorology and animal welfare, forage crops and grasslands, animal and forage plants breeding and genetics, animal reproduction, ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, meat science and muscle biology, precision livestock, and animal production systems and agribusiness.

An experiment under greenhouse conditions was carried out with Tanzania guineagrass supplied with combined rates of nitrogen and calcium in nutrient solutions during the spring season. A randomized block design was used, with four replicates, in an incomplete 52 factorial scheme with five nitrogen rates (2; 9; 16; 23 e 30 mmol L-1) and five calcium rates (0.50; 1.75; 3.00; 4.25 e 5.50 mmol L-1) resulting in 13 nitrogen:calcium combinations (mmol L-1): 2:0.50; 2:3.00; 2:5.50; 9:1.75; 9:4.25; 16:0.50; 16:3.00; 16:5.50; […]
With the purpose of re-evaluating seventeen pigeon-pea lines originated from accessions previously selected for favorable agronomic characteristics, experiments were installed in five locations of the State of São Paulo. The confirmation of those characteristics was necessary because the original accessions presented various degrees of mechanical mixtures and segregation and were submitted to purification process in pollination controlled conditions. In those trials, the lines were cut in several occasions to evaluate forage yield. Each time, it was determined the number of […]
This work aimed to characterize an elephantgrass collection (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.) comprising 71 clones and selecting the best ones to be tested later under grazing conditions. It was carried out at Cedro Experimental Station – IPA, located in Vitória de Santo Antão, forest zone of Pernambuco State. The period of evaluation included both the raining and the dry season. Each clone was represented by a non-replicated plot of 10 m2. According to linear correlation analysis, the more productive clones also […]
