The Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (RBZ) is a publication dedicated to the broad field of Animal Science. We publish high-quality, original scientific research that spans across diverse areas within the discipline. The scope of RBZ encompasses a wide range of topics, including aquaculture, biometeorology and animal welfare, forage crops and grasslands, animal and forage plants breeding and genetics, animal reproduction, ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, meat science and muscle biology, precision livestock, and animal production systems and agribusiness.

The follicular dynamics and luteal regression were studied in 12 Gir and seven Nelore cows, treated with analog prostaglandin F2a, between day 10 and 12 of the estrous cycle. The synchronization rate was higher than 92% for the two breeds, and the ovulation of second dominant follicle occurred in 72.7% of Gir and all Nelore cows. Ovulatory follicle diameter for Nelore was lower (11.0 ± 0.9 mm) than Gir cows (13.0 ± 1.7 mm). The average intervals from treatment to […]

This experiment was carried out to verify the effect of the administration of different doses of GnRH (buserelin) analogue on the emergence of a new follicular growth wave and the number of recruited follicles from this wave, accessory corpus luteum formation, the dominant follicle diameter and the spontaneous corpus luteum on the luteolitic administration day and subsequent synchronization rate and the interval between the PGF2α application and the estrus manifestation. Twenty crossbreed female cattle in diestrus, crossbred Holstein x Zebu […]

The effect of different doses of hCG administration on the emergence of a new follicular growth wave and the number of recruited follicles from this wave, the accessory corpus luteum formation, the diameter of the dominant follicle and of the spontaneous corpus luteum on the day of a luteolitic administration and subsequent synchronization rate and the interval between the PGF2α administration and the estrus manifestation were evaluated. Twenty crossbred female cattle in diestrus, divided in four treatments containing five animals […]
