The Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia (RBZ) is a publication dedicated to the broad field of Animal Science. We publish high-quality, original scientific research that spans across diverse areas within the discipline. The scope of RBZ encompasses a wide range of topics, including aquaculture, biometeorology and animal welfare, forage crops and grasslands, animal and forage plants breeding and genetics, animal reproduction, ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, meat science and muscle biology, precision livestock, and animal production systems and agribusiness.

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary energy level on performance, carcass yield and abdominal fat of broiler chickens. Two thousand and four hundred day-old Ross 308 chicks were raised until 42 days of age in floor pens. The experimental design was a completly randomized in a 6 x 2 factorial design (energy x sex). The treatment was consisted of combinated levels of energy: 2900, 2960, 3020, 3080, 3140 and 3200 kcal/kg ME and sex, with four […]

This work was conducted aiming to evaluate the effect of dietary energy level and the previous heat exposure on the respiratory activity of the mitochondria from the cardiac muscle of broiler chickens. It was used broiler chickens (Hubbard) from both sexes and fed with diet containing 2900 kcal ME/kg or 3200 kcal ME/kg. The birds were heat stressed (35oC/4h) in the 1st, 21st and 42nd days of age. The respiratory activity of mitochondria from cardiac muscle was evaluated in a […]
